PB2 Performance Report for the Substance Abuse Subprogram

Report 98-49, February 1999

Report Summary

  • The Legislature cannot use the PBĀ² measures to assess the performance of the Department of Children and Families' Substance Abuse Subprogram because of questionable performance data for Fiscal Year 1997-98.
  • To enable an assessment of the subprogram's performance, the department must improve the reliability of its performance data. The department has made efforts to improve its data collection and verification processes in order to enhance the reliability of performance data for the 1998-99 fiscal year.
  • Suggested modifications to the proposed Fiscal Year 1999-2000 measures and standards should allow the Legislature to evaluate program outcomes.
