Program Evaluation & Justification Review Florida Department of Law Enforcement

Report 97-76, June 1998

Report Summary

  • FDLE is the appropriate agency to provide statewide coordination of criminal justice activities. While FDLE has developed strategies to address emerging crime problems and enhance law enforcement, demand for department services continues to increase. As a result, even with increased productivity, staff are unable to meet the demand for some services in a timely manner.
  • FDLE must decide which of its activities are most critical to public safety and shift existing resources to improve performance.
