Information Brief of Control Release Workload of the Florida Parole Commission , Report No. 95-44, March 1996

  • The Florida Parole Commission has identified the tasks and estimated the time required for those tasks associated with its control release workload, although time requirements have not been validated through any time studies.
  • The Commission was using the equivalent of 59 full-time program positions during the 1995-96 fiscal year for control release activities, a decrease of approximately 28 positions from the number used during the previous fiscal year.
  • If the statutory requirement for the Parole Commission to determine eligibility and set a control release date for most inmates within 90 days of admission were repealed, approximately 46 of the 59 program positions would not be needed for control release activities during the 1996-97 fiscal year. In addition, approximately 7 administrative positions would no longer be needed. Control release operations would thus cost approximately $2.4 million less in 1996-97 than in 1995-96.
