Review of Early Education and Child Care Programs: A Fourteen-County Perspective , Report No. 94-27, January 1995
 


  • This report is one in a series of two reports on the provision of services to young children and their families. The other report (No. 94-25) provides an overview of services provided to young children and families and evaluates several approaches that could be implemented to integrate early education and child care services.
  • This report provides in-depth information on the provision of services to young children and their families in 14 selected counties (Alachua, Broward, Dade, Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Hillsborough, Holmes, Leon, Marion, Okaloosa, Pinellas, Suwannee, and Walton counties). In addition to background information and scope and methodology, each county profile provides information in seven areas: (1) Observation/Conclusions, (2) Gaps in Populations Served or Services Provided, (3) Activities to Improve and Integrate Services, (4) Strategies to Achieve Blueprint 2000 Goal 1 (Readiness to Start School), (5) Barriers to Improving and Integrating Services, (6) Changes Needed to Enhance Local Activities, and (7) Centralization Approaches.
