Performance Review of the Inmate Intake Process Administered by the Department of Corrections , Report No. 94-26, January 1995

  • The Department has not established procedures to direct intake staff to identify and place priorities on serving those needs that are directly related to the inmate's criminal behavior. Furthermore, information from post-sentence investigations that would be useful in making such assessments is not always available to intake staff. As a result, the intake process does not help the Department measure the effectiveness of its rehabilitative efforts or determine the appropriate level of program resources needed to serve identified needs.
