Mental Health Institutions Program

Report 00-13, October 2000

Report Summary

The program provides beneficial services to clients as well as a public safety benefit to Florida's citizens. Many institutional clients could be served in less costly and less restrictive community treatment settings. Some clients remain in forensic hospitals after restoration of mental competencies because of either limited community treatment alternatives or a lack of mental health services in jails.
